afternoon tea party

threw a tea party this weekend, and it was just grand!

the occasion

graduation (for karen and em) and goodbye (for miss em)

the menu

(4 different types of sandwiches)

salmon, endive and cream cheese with scallions

apple, goat cheese and fennel

mango chutney and sharp cheddar cheese

lemon, cucumber and hummus

scones with rhubarb compote and clotted cream

pistachio shortbread and tj's ginger cookies

fruit tartlets with fruit toppings (blueberry, blackberry and strawberry)

pitcher of spiked peach iced tea and assorted hot teas (tj's white pomegranate tea was a hit!)

the decor and setting

4 mismatched chairs

1 too small round patio table

2 bunches of sweetpeas from the farmer's market

1 rose tea set purchased from the crotchety old man two doors down

1 patterned 'springish' shower curtain and duvet cover (decor was mostly shabby, aspiring towards chic)

it was so pleasant to sit outside and enjoy the breeze coming through while we sat and sipped tea...and basically acted like gossipy old ladies.
