third party conversation

once in a while i end up the unwitting third party of conversations i'm never meant to be in. i feel a little like harriet the spy as i record them here (albeit online instead of in a trusty notebook). take last night for example. after class, i walked back to the subway station with two girls whose conversation went like this:

girl1: those shoes are so cute! you always have cute shoes!
girl2: thank you! these are sooo oooold.
girl1: i really want these Christian Louboutin flats that are $500. i think i'm going to get them.
girl3: ($500?) " ".
girl2: you're sooo bad.
girl1: i know! but they're so versatile; you can wear them during the day or out at night. and they come in all these different colors! i'm thinking of gold.
girl2: oooooooooh.
girl3: what do they look like?
girl1: they're triangle shaped. you know that thin strap that thongs have, and then there's this triangle...
girl3 rudely interrups.
girl3: it's a sandal??
girl1: yes, they're in the new Elle, and they're soooo comfortable.
girl2: Christian Louboutin is a really good brand.
girl3: ($500? for flip flops?) " ".

train whooshes into the station.
girls 1 and 2 rush on.
girl3 waits for her train.
end scene.
