the new general manager came by my desk as i was shuffling a huge pile of papers...
gm: "that looks like filing."
me: "umm, yeah." (nervous laughter)
gm: "ahh, i know how that goes."
me: "yeah, i always leave it till last."
i was too embarrassed to say that she was looking at the normal state of my desk, and my 'filing' system basically consisted of moving piles from one side to another...hmm. maybe i should take the food out of my drawers, get some file folders and start putting paper in them. which leaves me to ponder the next question in this chain of logic: if i did that, then where would i stash the food?

I think you should ask for a bigger desk with lots more drawers :)
