fashion challenged

i'm no fashionista, i admit. although i'd like to think i've made some strides from my flip flops and xl college sweatshirt days, i'm still clueless about all things style. this was obvious in a recent conversation with a fashion-forward friend who was going shopping after lunch.

me: so what are you shopping for?

friend: i'm looking for those (insert proper fashion term here) trousers

me: what kind of trousers?

friend: you know the ones that are (fashion term) and a little shorter on the bottom, so you can wear them with heels?

me: are they pencil leg?

friend: no, they're tapered.

me: ? confused look

friend: okay. just imagine khaki pants, folded at the bottom.

me: oh!
